Plot

Young widow Drishti (Bipasha Basu) lives in a small, remote village. She has the gift of seeing into the future. She was previously in a relationship with Manav (Abhishek Bachchan). Today, her world is her family, her clients, and Mohit (Sunil Shetty), an eccentric car mechanic who needs psychiatric treatment. Mohit has a crush on Drishti, which Drishti is unaware of. One of her customers is Rhea Trehan (Neha Dhupia), the wife of Sunny Trehan (Dino Morea). Drishti firmly believes that Rhea should leave Sunny, since he beats her. Sunny has frequent fights with Drishti on this issue.

One day, Natasha (Amrita Arora), the daughter of Mayor Raja Bahadur Singh (Sharat Saxena), goes missing. When police fail to trace her, the mayor turns to Drishti. She takes the case willingly, since Natasha was going to be the wife of her child's headmaster Shekhar (Sanjay Dutt). Drishti sees visions of Natasha at a party, flirting with many people, when Sunny suddenly accosts her. Natasha and Sunny get into a scuffle and Sunny injures her. Later, Drishti gets visions of a place where Natasha's body is being dumped.

The police officer in charge of this case, ACP Ranvir Singh (Rajat Bedi), is skeptical of Drishti's gift. Nevertheless, he takes a search party to a lake that matches Drishti's description. There, Natasha's body is found. Sunny is arrested for Natasha's murder, is found guilty, and given a life sentence. Sunny claims he is innocent but the case is closed.

Meanwhile, Mohit is forcibly taken to a mental asylum. Drishti, knowing that Sunny is innocent, investigates on her own. In an attempt to reconstruct the final moments, she goes to the lake where the body was dumped, and gets a vision where the murderer is in front of Natasha, hiding a knife. She sees the criminal's watch. Drishti comes out of her vision, with Shekhar next to her. When she notices the same watch on Shekhar's wrist, she realizes the truth and tries to escape, but Shekhar realizes that she has stumbled upon his secret. He starts telling his story.

Shekhar recounts that the mayor, who was his father's political protege, backstabbed his mentor, due to political ambitions. His father died a sorry man. Shekhar decided to become a politician and avenge his father's death. He allowed the mayor to build trust in him, to the extent that his marriage was fixed with Natasha. Shekhar was aware of Natasha's character, knowing that if her real character became public, his political career would be over. When Natasha and Sunny broke into a fight, Shekhar followed her and killed her.

After confessing the truth, Shekhar tells Drishti she must die. Just as he is about to kill her, Mohit appears and knocks Shekhar out. He tells Drishti that he ran away from the asylum and is not going to return. He drives Drishti to the police station. She asks him to come in but he insists on staying in the car. In the police station, ACP Ranvir congratulates Drishti for single-handedly fighting a killer and bringing him here. When Drishti tells the truth, Ranvir is skeptical. He then reveals that Mohit committed suicide earlier that day, shocking Drishti. She goes to fetch Mohit, but finds his seat empty. She sees the handkerchief he had given her in the car, and accepts the truth. Shekhar is gives his confession from jail.

Some time later, Drishti's parents introduce her to a potential partner. It is Manav, who has returned. The film ends, indicating that the duo probably married and lived a happy life.
